Pensees…..

pensees

I have been reading this book by Blaise Pascal called Pensees….I would never have thought to read a book like this before except for that it came highly recommended by an avid reader friend of mine. Pascal as far as i knew was a math dude..not a philosopher…This book is incredible! By far the most quotable book i have ever read..other than the bible naturally. The other day i was reading it and this  really resonated with me

“Men despise religion; they hate it and fear it is true. To remedy this, we must begin by showing that religion is not contrary to reason; that it is venerable, to inspire respect for it; then we must make it lovable, to make good men hope it is true; finally, we must prove it is true.

Venerable, because it has perfect knowledge of man; lovable because it promises the true good.”

 Makes so much sense and is something I am challenging myself to live more by. Pick up a copy of this book…it will rock your world…well at least i hope so :)

Cheers

HOPE FOR HAITI

You are invited to come and enjoy dinner, music and friends while supporting an awesome cause!

haiti

Haiti trip fund raising dinner will provide funds to support the mission work that Dustin Veneman and his wife-to-be Annelies are doing in the region of Pasque de Bois, Haiti. The hurricane brought much destruction to the country. Water and food supply has been low and children have been suffering from malnutrition. Dustin and Annelies are working in the village clinic providing health care to the people suffering from various illnesses ranging from malnutrition to tuberculosis. They are also educating the people on disease prevention and sustainable agriculture. Deforestation is increasing which is leading to poor soil quality and therefore making farming impossible. This is all done while demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ and teaching the Gospel. May all things be done for the glory of God!

Father, I am seeking;

Seattle…..For a Day

17 03 2009

My Dear Friend and new best travel pal Yvette decided to jump on a plane and fly to Seattle Washington for the day on friday March 13. Crazy we know but fun more than you could imagine! We left Modesto at 4am to catch our flight at 6:20 which we thought would have been plenty of time since we were checking no bags. We missed our flight! It was so funny….we rode the Bart to the Oakland airport stop and then took a shuttle to the actual terminal….once we got to the security line the guard could see the panic on our faces. Our flight was scheduled to depart in 3 mins and we still had to get to the gate….he let us cut in line but didn’t give us much hope…in a desperate attempt to make our flight we grabbed our stuff out of the trays that had gone through the xray machine and Yvette in her socks not even taking the time to put her shoes on sprinted across the airport to our gate arriving at 6:18…we just missed it. Thank goodness for Southwest they got us on the next flight to Seattle no problems…We Finally arrived to Seattle and didn’t stop. We pretty much ate our way through the city. We did all the tourist things, pikes place, original Starbucks, underground Seattle, and the Space needle. I think we ate the best food ever there! We had lunch at the local Irish pub named Kel’s where we enjoyed amazing Irish food and great beer, and for dinner we had an amazing meal of gourmet Thai food and an amazing atmosphere. If you have never visited Seattle you must! South West $49 each way…I’ll always go with ;)

Heres Some Pictures Enjoy….
